How I use my iPhone: Travel Folder

The Trouble with Triberr And/Or Twitter

I saw the percolating of Triberr.com at least a week or so before it a critical mass recently. (Does that make me an early adopter ? Or just early spotter?) Mitch Joel, and commentors, have a great discussion about Twitter automation going. I really liked the idea- practice is another ball of wax. Most folks are complaining that automatic retweets of unread blog posts suggests that you are recommending something that you might not recommend.  I can see that side of the argument, very legit. Course, this operates with the assumption that EVERYONE assumes you are recommending something when you tweet or re-tweet it. Are you? Should you be held liable if you were to send a link and it changes? The discussion of decorum and expectations about online practices such as this isn't going to end any time soon. The reality is: EVERYONE has their own set of best practices and SOP. I'd like to think that most of them mesh up. I dare say, I get a little tired of experts t...

Twitter Tool You Need: Slipstream

My new favorite toy for Twitter is one that you have to wonder why THEY didn't create- seriously this time. Slipstream gives me a reason to use the "NEW" Twitter interface as it only works in it right now. As you can see from the screenshot, it allows you to HIDE specific Tweets from people or based on keyword mentions. It will even let you determine where to block it. You can pick your lists, your home feed, you name it! So far, oneforty only has one review  and it is neutral if not positive. You can find it in the Chrome Web Store and it was an easy download! The reviews there are positive as well! Watch a brief video: Slipstre.am from Arthur Klepchukov on Vimeo . You can see how it has changed from when it was being worked on last year, but after just messing around with it, I now have to stick with "new" Twitter to enjoy the benefit of Slipstream. Tool: Formulist, Great for Organizing Your Twits

It might be love at first sight, but I am digging formulists. Other than my love affair with Hootsuite , there are few other platforms I use with Twitter. I have found the tools provided by formulists to be fantastic after only a few days of use. They have self-generating lists for: people who are like you, people like another Twitter-user, mutual friends, followers, people who have unfollowed, people you interact with on Twitter via retweet, or you can generate your own. Durn, I am sure other platforms are performing such functions, but this has been a GREAT organizer for different feeds I want to follow on Twitter. Tool: Boomerang for Gmail

Alright, I'm already a convert for the Boomerang plugin for Gmai l. Google, please buy this tool and make it official. How is it that you HAVEN'T already done this for us avid Gmail fans? Freenuts discusses the pros well here.  But also talks about the negative of sending a txt attachment. A good basic explanation is here as well along with a review of Lettermelater. And one more great call for the needed plugin here. Those folks said it better than I could! I've sent multiple posts to the blog via this tool and have LOVED it.  Perhaps the only downside I see right now is that the plugin only works in Chrome and Firefox . Some people have said they have not gotten the invites to the beta online, but I did what they asked: " follow  @baydinsoftware  and  tweet that you want an invitation . We'll DM you an invitation code within one day." If you are a Chrome lover like me, and use Gmail at all, you should give this a test run! Related articles by Zemanta Sche...

Tool: Twitter Karma

Image via Wikipedia While Twitter is still gaining traction with most folks, a recent study tell us: "The average (median) lifetime number of tweets for a single user is 1, while 10% of the users contribute 90% of the traffic." Perhaps not a great sign of longevity?  One tool I've started to use to cull my numbers so I don't appear to be OVERfollowing is Twitter Karma. Head here to check it out:  http://dossy.org/twitter/karma/ I'm not going to review it per se because these fine folk have done that for me: http://oneforty.com/item/twitter-karma http://www.dragonblogger.com/twitter-karma-twitter-sites/ http://www.alonmargovskiy.com/2010/04/twitter-app-review-twitter-karma-review.html However, I will lodge a complaint- not all activity is current. I was looking to lower my follower numbers and it indicated that someone had not tweeted in over a year. Yet, go to their account and it was updated hours ago. Otherwise, it is a good way to visualize what is going on wi...
